Life is never boring with Madilyn around......So, here it is. Madilyn had surgery on October 29th to release a tendon on her foot that controls her toes. This was going to be a simple procedure. That's funny. We are talking about Madilyn here. Nothing is ever simple with her. On Monday, Madilyn got cast #7 place on her foot. In honor of the holidays and the fact that we used every color available already, Telly our Tech, got creative....That is how the Christmas cast came about!

It is red with a green strip! How festive is that? It makes you want to start singing...."Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year!". It has to be the happiest cast I have ever seen.
There is tape covering the heal right now because there is a window in the back of her cast that allows us the opportunity to clean her pressure ulcer and dress it twice a day.

So, we will have this cast for Christmas! We will have to cut our trip to Virginia short this holiday due to the fact that Madilyn has to be back to see our favorite Orthopedic Surgeon on Monday, December 29th. We hope that this will be our last visit to the doctor this year. We pray

that we will not have to experience cast number 8. We would rather someone else get to use those casting supplies......Merry Cast Christmas!
I found a picture of her foot for you all to see. This is after 5 weeks of trying to get her foot to heal. I do not have a photo of what it looked like when she had to spend the week in the hospital it was really bad.

Maddie is such a cutie, Jill! How awesome that they made her cast all Christmasy!!!! :) Hope this one goes well..... hang in there, momma!
The ulcer looks good for 5 weeks of healing especially after you described it after the cast came off. You are a wonderful nurse (i give you a honorary RN) and an even more wonderful mom to your 3 beautiful kids. Of course, I always knew you would be a good mom cause you kept me in line during our first 2 years of college:) And boy, did I need it!!
I love her Christmas cast. Thank you for sharing with me your blog. I feel so special. I love my blog, it is an outlet, but also a way for my family and friends to see what we are up to, with living so very far away from them. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, which I adore.
