A Magical Christmas Eve

Our Christmas plans changed dramatically yesterday when my car was declared not safe to travel to Virginia. Needless to say, I was heart broken. I cried buckets full of tears. But, sometimes things happen for a reasons we simply can not always understand.

We made a decision to make sure we had the best Christmas possible even though we would not be with our extended family. Early this morning, I went off to the grocery store to put together a last minute Christmas meal. It was crazy! I spent all day cooking and preparing for Christmas. Plus we got the news that Grandma & Grandpa Salyers and Uncle Mark were coming to spend Christmas Day with us here in Atlanta. They were going to arrive by noon on Christmas Day! That was the best news ever.

We kept with all our special traditions. Here is Berkley, Tyler and Madilyn making the special cookies that are placed on our Santa plate and left for Santa to enjoy. They made chocolate chip cookies!

We enjoyed our family reading of the Christmas Story and then Vince read two books that are treasures to our children; Twas the Night Before Christmas and the Christmas Crocodile complete with all the great voices and animation that would win him an Oscar if they gave one for Christmas readings. Our joy was full, so we thought.

Berkley and Tyler were sent to get a shower and get ready for bed when a black truck pulled up into our driveway. We wondered who would be coming this late. Then to our amazement it was my FAMILY! Grandma & Grandpa Salyers and Uncle Mark! I couldn't believe it. I shouted for joy. We danced around the living room. They surprised us and came early so they wouldn't miss spending Christmas morning with us. This is truly the best Christmas Eve Ever! We will miss my sister and her family in Utah. They are always in our thoughts as well as Vince's Mom and family. It's the first year we have not all been together. This year we shall have a wonderful Georgia Christmas. I am so blessed!

I wondered if they would leave the minute the package got to the house. I had a feeling they would suprise you as these are the great people they are. We all spent many Christmas dinners together, remember:)

I do remember all those Christmas dinners together and then we would always go to the church for the most wonderful program. I treasure those memories. It was the best Christmas surprise ever when my family showed up!
